We are StoryTime Solutions

Hey folks. In case we haven't met, I'm Jesse Alford, and along with @nat and @coby, I'm a co-founder of StoryTime Solutions, LLC - the new entity we've conjured into existence to support our work around https://storytime.team.

If you haven't seen the announcement page there, please have a look - we're excited to start sharing what we've been working on.

I started this forum several months ago when Broadcom announced that they would no longer be selling anything but the "Enterprise" version of Pivotal Tracker. Honestly, I probably should have started it back when VMware added a Priority field to Tracker. That's when I knew tracker would need successors, though there was a whole journey before I started working on even the spiritual predecessor to StoryTime, an informative but dead-end learning project called Zero, which literally no one but me could figure out how to use. I think we're doing a lot better this time around, and I'm eager to find out if others agree.

I don't think we're making the only such thing, and I don't intend this forum to be only about our efforts, products, and output. So, please, continue to discuss other tools, suggest the best way to configure Jira to make it livable, etc.

The other thing I think here and now is right to talk about is who we are as a company. We're a small, part-time balanced team - roughly, I'm the Product Manager, Nat's the Engineer, and Coby's the Designer. We're all working various consulting projects to fund our lives and development of StoryTime - and having to use other software in our client work, at least for now.

Coby and I happen to have the most capacity right now. We're not really picking our timing - Broadcom's shutting Tracker down more aggressively than we had predicted. I mean, I knew it was doomed, but I didn't expect April, 2025. We expect, modulo the vagaries of client work, to be able to resume making significant engineering investment in the New Year. Of course we want something viable out before Tracker goes away. But we're very committed to both sustainable pace and reality. So we'll see how it goes.

See ya' starside.
